With several new EV models scheduled to hit the India market this year, Exicom looks at 2025 as a “breakthrough year” for the EV industry.

EV charging solutions provider Exicom looks to start production at its new facility in Hyderabad by the next quarter. Currently, it operates one manufacturing facility in Gurugram.

“The construction is in full progress, and we will be able to start production from the facility from May 2025. This will allow us to increase our capacity by 3X for both chargers as well as battery packs,” Anshuman Divyanshu, CEO- EVSE, Exicom told ETAuto.

Exicom, which supplies to carmakers like Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M), Hyundai, MG Motor, also intends to use the new facility as an export base for its products. The company will produce AC, DC and portable chargers here.

With several new EV models scheduled to hit the India market this year, Exicom looks at 2025 as a “breakthrough year” for the EV industry. It has recently collaborated with ChargeZone to supply ultra high-power charging solutions for public locations.

As per regulatory filings, the company reported a revenue of approximately INR 1,038 crore in FY24.

Last year, Exicom acquired US-based DC fast charging technology company Tritium for INR 310 crore. As part of the deal, it also operates a manufacturing facility in Tennessee, USA now. This acquisition will also enable the Indian company to expand its reach to over 40 international markets through Tritium’s established footprint.

Further, it is looking to launch the PKM flex charger by June. Exicom claims this to be the world's most flexible charger which is completely modular in nature, and boasts industry-leading features like grid connection over-subscription, liquid-cooled power cables, and 800A power delivery. It will cater to the global markets, and will be initially only manufactured at the Tennessee facility.

The company is looking to expand its presence in North America, Middle East, and Australia. It has already appointed a distributor in Australia, and will begin shipping its first set of spin AC chargers to the region starting this month.

“We are set to enter Brazil, and in addition to that, Dubai and Saudi Arabia are key strategic markets for us. In both of these regions, we have established partnerships that will enable us to sell chargers and secure the necessary local government certifications,” Divyanshu said.

“Our idea is to make the Tritium product line more indigenous and competitive from the India market,” he added.

Currently, exports account for just around 5% of Exicom's total business. Looking ahead, the company aims to double the share within the next 12 months.

Each country has its own specific certification requirements and regulations that must be complied with, which means the lead time to start selling chargers typically ranges between 12 to 15 months.

During the last five to six months, Exicom has obtained certification (for selling chargers) for most of the target markets. Now it sees the international business gaining momentum by the next two or three months.
