Exchange 'game boys' for Ofori-Atta in extradition deal with FBI - Solomon Owusu to government
FBI has requested the extradition of Kofi Boat (L), while OSP has declared Ofori-Atta (R) wanted
A leading member of the Movement for Change, Solomon Owusu, has advised National Security authorities to strike a deal with their counterparts in the United States regarding the ongoing processes for the extradition of former Minister of Finance, Ken Ofori-Atta, who has been declared wanted by the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP).
According to him, Ghana's security authorities should strike a deal with the FBI, which has asked Ghana to extradite a number of Ghanaians interdicted in the US for allegedly engaging in money laundering and fraud.
Solomon Owusu, who made these remarks in an interview on TV3 on June 25, 2025, indicated that the deal would be in Ghana’s interest and should be considered.
“In the same way that we have extradition orders in this country to take out Ghanaians, those they call ‘game boys,’ I believe before the extradition order that was allowed by the Minister of Interior, he should have called for a better trade, so that while they are bringing Ken Ofori-Atta in, we will also be sending our boys out.
"After all, if we are going to measure the magnitude of our money that we are talking about, what the boys have been accused of having taken from the Americans is in the region of hundreds of millions. What Kenyatta has been accused of is in billions,” he said.
He added, “So, between the two, he should be coming down faster… Exchange is not robbery, fast track so that he comes to answer.”

Background
Three Ghanaian nationals, including an alleged cybercrime kingpin, are facing extradition to the United States in connection with a $100 million fraud scheme involving Business Email Compromise (BEC) and romance scams, GhanaWeb has learned.
The suspects — Isaac Kofi Oduro Boateng, also known as Kofi Boat; a man identified only as Agony; and a third accomplice — were arrested on Friday, June 13, in a joint operation between Interpol and the US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).
GhanaWeb understands that a fourth suspect remains at large.
The extradition request, issued by the US Department of State and relayed through the US Embassy in Accra, follows a May 2023 indictment by the US District Court for the Southern District of New York.
The court charged the accused with conspiracy to commit wire fraud and money laundering in relation to a criminal enterprise operating out of Ghana.
A red notice alert has also been issued by INTERPOL for Ken Ofori-Atta, who is believed to be in the US.
