Paris Basketball has announced that acclaimed French actor and producer Omar Sy has joined the club as a co-owner. "I’m a big basketball fan, and I came to see the club play for the first time during their EuroLeague game against Baskonia last November," Sy said in the club’s official press release. "I was struck by the energy of the project. In the stands, this club brings together all the diversity of Greater Paris—something truly valuable." "On the court, the team plays with intensity and character, which fuels its sporting ambitions. Off the court, especially on social media, the club’s identity and image are vibrant. I’m genuinely excited to contribute to the growth of Paris Basketball." Eric Schwartz, owner of Paris Basketball, believes Sy’s arrival is in line with the club’s forward-thinking development strategy. "Since 2018, we’ve been building Paris Basketball through innovative approaches. Omar Sy’s arrival fits seamlessly into that vision, and I’m confident he’ll bring a fresh perspective to help take the club to new heights," Schwartz said. David Kahn, the club’s president and co-owner, emphasized that Sy’s role is not symbolic, but one of active involvement. "We’re proud to welcome Omar Sy as a co-owner and cultural advisor to Paris Basketball," Kahn stated. "This is far more than an honorary title. From our very first discussions, it was clear that he wanted to be deeply involved in the club’s growth and visibility—an ambition we fully share. We’re excited to begin this journey together." Fresh off winning the French Cup and completing a memorable season that included a first-ever EuroLeague appearance capped by a playoff qualification, Paris Basketball is currently competing in the French League playoffs after finishing first in the regular season. Paris is currently leading in the best-of-five semi-finals series against JL Bourg 1-0.
