Eric jumped in to help Albert's family after he died in police custody.
He met his father at Chiromo Mortuary and organised an online fundraiser for the family through his Sisi Kwa Sisi Initiative.
Kenyan responded positively and raised millions in hours.

In a video, Eric has revealed that the total amount raised through his efforts is about KSh 10 million.
"I have not added whatever is in the bank. We had achieved KSh 2.6 million by last week. One thing is that people are still sending money. That KSh 2.6 million was achieved on the day I posted Albert's father. So it means it accumulated in the following 24 hours. So we are roughly at maybe KSh 10 million.
When asked how he felt when he saw Meshack thanking President William Ruto, the comedian didn't beat around the bush.
He said he felt betrayed.
"I was betrayed. I was disappointed. I was angered because we lost a brother, and he lost a son in the hands of a government agency. I just felt betrayed. We are fighting a course. Just a week later, someone else had been shot. It undermined our course. We are fighting against police brutality. A government that can't protect human life can't come and again to console you and give you money, and then you thank them. We moved five steps ahead and moved 20 steps backwards," he said.
dawnskysilhouetted:
"I don’t blame him for taking the money, but it’s him praising the government for the bare minimum that annoys me."
hotkid:
"That father chose money over justice for his son 😢so sad anyway pia me ningechagua pesa nimesota."
sophymwangi:
"He should have to pick a side, which is more important the support of Kenyans or his political friends, then return our money & accept that of his “new” besties."
black_gurls_culture:
"Maanze Eric Omondi for president."
mediator015:
"If the intention was to help the father hata pesa itoke kwa Iddi Amin or whoever, that's okay. Labda hata some killer cop sent 200 yake. Hata ni vizuri walikomoa hio 2 million ingepelekwa mahali huko ocha watu waambiwa vile watapiga kura and ofcourse to the owner of the money. Anyone would have chosen Money unlike comments and likes. Do you care who loves you or not ukiwa na millioni zako kwa mfuko?"
Albert's family has raised concerns that they were scammed out of the money that Kenyans had donated.
They claim that the funds, which were raised through a public initiative, have vanished from Opiyo's M-Pesa account.
In a video shared by YouTuber Clinton Chirangah Shim, Albert’s uncle, Polycarp Odhiambo, revealed the details of the situation.
Odhiambo explained that his brother tried to withdraw the money but faced difficulties due to not having an ID.
When he sought help at Safaricom, he discovered that not only was the money missing, but even his personal balance of KSh 17,000 had been taken.
Upon reviewing the account statement, they found that over KSh 500,000 had been withdrawn by unknown individuals.
