Michael Tobiloba Adaramoye, aka Lenin, one of the #EndBadGovernance protesters being prosecuted by the Nigerian Government, has called for mass actions and campaigns against the government's attacks on democratic rights.

Lenin made the call in a post on Facebook on Wednesday after their court sitting in Abuja, urging Nigerians to pressure the government to withdraw the charges preferred against him and other protesters.

"The state has reminded us that we must spare no effort in fighting for our democratic rights," Lenin said. "What is important now is for mass actions and campaigns against the attacks on democratic rights, as well as a frantic call for the outrageous charges to be withdrawn."

Lenin narrated the outcome of a court session, where the prosecutor requested more time to familiarise himself with the case.

He noted that the defence lawyers, led by Barr. Deji Adeyanju and Barr. Marshal Abubakar, vehemently opposed the request, accusing the state of deliberate time-wasting and irresponsibility.

He added that the trial judge eventually adjourned the trial to October 9, 2025, warning that the case would be struck out if the prosecutor further delays the trial.

Lenin criticised the prosecutor's comments, saying, "Barr. Ibrahim, the new prosecutor, boasted that the state has overwhelming evidence against us, as well as enough witnesses. He openly called us criminals who have committed crimes against the state and must be punished."

“He rudely said that any of us who are not comfortable with bearing the cost of attending the court cases should be sent back to prison to 'enjoy' free transportation,” he added.

Narrating the outcome of the court sitting, the activist said: "Finally, our presiding judge was seated today, after being absent three times previously. The former prosecuting counsel for the Nigerian police is embroiled in a corruption issue and has been dismissed, so the police came with a new prosecutor.

"The new prosecutor requested more time to familiarise himself with the details of the issues. Our lawyers, led by Barr. Deji Adeyanju and Barr. Marshall Abubakar, vehemently opposed this request. Whatever familiarisation he needed to do, he had ample time to have done that.

"Our lawyers, rightly, accused the state of deliberate time-wasting and irresponsibility and asked for the case to be struck out.

“However, the judge conceded to the prosecutor's request for the trial to be adjourned, but on the condition that the case would be struck out if the prosecutor further delays the trial; the court eventually agreed on October 9, 2025."

According to Lenin, the renewed interest of the state in the treason trial shows that the attacks on democratic rights under President Bola Tinubu are far from over.

“Of course, no one believed him when he professed his love for democracy and even said he is ready to defend those who abuse and accuse him,” he said.

"However, what is important now is for mass actions and campaigns against the attacks on democratic rights, as well as a frantic call for the outrageous charges to be withdrawn. The state has reminded us that we must spare no effort in fighting for our democratic rights.”

Lenin's call for mass action comes amid growing concerns about the government's response to peaceful protests and the erosion of the rule of law. The #EndBadGovernance protesters are facing trial for their alleged roles in the demonstrations, which aimed to highlight the country's economic and governance challenges.

Those standing trial are Lenin, Adeyemi Abiodun Abayomi (aka Yomi), Suleiman Yakubu, Comrade Opaluwa Eleojo Simon (aka Bob-Simon), Angel Love Innocent (aka Loveth), Buhari Lawal, Mosiu Sadiq, Bashir Bello (aka Murtala), Nuradeen Khamis, Abdulsalam Zubairu, and Daniel Akande.
