According to reports from authorities and eyewitnesses, several people lost their lives on the spot, while others sustained injuries and are currently receiving medical treatment.

Bonventure Media House reports that the tragic accident claimed the lives of a boda boda rider and his female passenger.

Eyewitnesses say the ill-fated car veered off the road after hitting the motorcycle, fatally injuring the rider and his passenger on the spot, before plunging into a nearby river.

According to the residents, the accident caused widespread panic as rescue efforts were hampered by the vehicle’s precarious position, submerged in the river.

The occupants of the former deputy governor's vehicle remained trapped inside as police and medical responders worked hard to pull out the submerged SUV.

Embu News Updates reports that emergency services responded swiftly to the scene, where rescue and recovery operations started in earnest.

The identities of the deceased boda boda operator and his passenger have not yet been released pending notification of their families.

Embu women's representative Pamela Njoki Njeru clarified that the vehicle involved was not part of President William Ruto's motorcade.

"My car was the one hit from behind in the accident at Kapingazi River," she explained, reiterating that no presidential escort car was part of the accident.

Members of the public are urged to disregard such misinformation and rely on verified sources for accurate updates.

An investigation into the cause of the crash is currently underway. Further updates will be shared as they become available.

The accident has sparked public concern about the safety of VIP convoys and their impact on ordinary road users.

This comes three months after a highly publicised accident occurred on Ngong Road involving the president's convoy.

In the incident, President William Ruto's convoy killed a middle-aged foreign national near Adams Arcade and reportedly left the body at the scene.

The tragedy happened while the motorcade was en route from Lang’ata to Kibra Constituency as Ruto continued to tour Nairobi.

A large section of Kenyans expressed fury over the incident while recounting the losses recorded during the president's development tours.
