In a letter dated June 17, 2025, GTEC expressed concern over Agyeman’s continued use of the title "Professor," stating that it may lack proper academic validation. The Commission warned that such usage undermines Ghana’s higher education standards.

"The Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) has taken note of your continued use of the academic title 'Professor,' specifically referring to yourself as Prof. Edward Dua Agyeman," the letter read.

GTEC demanded that Agyeman submit "documentary evidence of [his] appointment or promotion to the rank of Associate Professor or Professor by a recognized institution," including a formal letter confirming the awarding authority and effective date.

Should he fail to provide proof, the Commission ordered him to "cease the use of the title 'Professor'" and remove it from all public platforms, including:

The letter, signed by Prof. Augustine Ocloo, Deputy Director-General of GTEC, stressed that "the use of such titles—particularly when they lack formal academic validation—can be misleading and is inconsistent with the established academic protocols."

This directive follows GTEC’s broader crackdown on unauthorised academic titles, with the Commission vowing to "name and shame" offenders and pursue legal action against repeat violations.
