Officials of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) and the police have apprehended some individuals at Gomoa Awombrew in the Central Region in connection with confiscated cables suspected to part of the missing ECG cables.

This update was shared by Sika Official on X on Wednesday, April 2, 2025.

The post read, "ECG officials and police officers with the Swedru Divisional Police Command have arrested some persons in connection with some confiscated cables suspected to be part of the missing ECG cables.

"The suspects were arrested at Gomoa Awombrew in the Central Region, after local residents suspected the broken down truck, prompting an inspection of its cargo."

Meanwhile, the Minister of Energy and Green Transition, John Abdulai Jinapor, has reiterated the state’s commitment to ensuring that all individuals found culpable in procurement breaches and the disappearance of over 1,300 shipping containers and their contents belonging to the ECG are arrested and prosecuted.

He said this during a recent visit to the premises of Dangfang Company Ltd and Ponlok Manufacturing Company Ltd to inspect tons of missing cables uncovered by the National Security Secretariat.

John Abdulai Jinapor stated that following an investigation launched upon his assumption of office, a committee established that over 1,300 containers could not be accounted for at Tema Port.

“We will chase everybody and pursue every organisation involved in this cartel. Clearly, as you can see, these are ECG cables. They are meant to be used by ECG, but they end up in these factories, where they are melted down to produce aluminium rods. That is criminal,” he stated.
