A government official working with the Lands Control Board was arrested by officers from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission after being caught soliciting bribes.
According to the EACC, the suspect was arrested after detectives from the commission received a tip-off from a complainant who had sold his land and required consent from the board to transfer it.
The arrested officer is reported to have demanded a bribe from the complainant, prompting him to inform the EACC about the ordeal.
''The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has arrested a Tigania West Lands Control Board Member on an allegation of soliciting bribes from members of the public in order to process approvals on various land matters,'' a statement from EACC read in part.

"The suspect was nabbed by EACC sleuths following a tip-off from a complainant who had sold off his 0.25 hectares of land and required consent from the Board to transfer the property."
Upon receiving the tip-off, the detectives pursued the suspect, who was later arrested in the act while accepting the bribe.
"EACC investigators conducted an operation and arrested the suspect while receiving the bribe. After the arrest, the investigators recovered a total of Kshs70,000 suspected to be proceeds of corruption," EACC added.
The suspect was booked at Isiolo Police Station for the offence of receiving a bribe as further processing of the case continues.
The arrest comes just a few days after the EACC arrested a Principal Prosecution Counsel in charge of the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) in Kilgoris on February 17.
The officer was apprehended on allegations of soliciting a bribe, as the EACC revealed that the senior officer had demanded a KSh 50,000 bribe from a businessman in exchange for expediting a court case.
Hours later following the arrest, the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) sent the officer on compulsory leave, pending the competition of investigations on the same.
"The attention of the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) is drawn to social media reports indicating that a senior prosecutor has been arrested on allegations of soliciting a bribe of KSh50,000 from a businessman in exchange for the fast-tracking of a court case," a letter from the ODPP read in part.
"The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) has, therefore, directed that the affected officer proceed on compulsory leave with immediate effect, as per the ODPP Human Resource Policies and Procedures Manual 2022, pending internal investigations, which have commenced forthwith."
