Dylan Osetkowski's Anti-Doping Case Reopened

New Partizan Belgrade forward Dylan Osetkowski is once again at the center of a doping investigation, reopened by the Spanish Anti-Doping Agency (CELAD), according to recent reports. This renewed scrutiny stems from an incident during the 2023-24 season when Osetkowski, then playing for Unicaja Malaga in Spain, reportedly tested positive for marijuana. The initial violation carried a potential one-year ban, but the case experienced significant delays due to multiple appeals, ultimately leading to its dismissal. Unicaja Malaga confirmed the closure of the proceedings on June 5, noting that the case had expired.

However, this expiration appears to be the very reason for CELAD's decision to reopen the investigation. Per Diario Sur, CELAD considers Osetkowski's situation "abnormal due to the length of the process" and the unconventional way it was resolved through expiration rather than a definitive ruling on the merits. This procedural anomaly has prompted the agency to revisit the matter.

In response to the news of the reopened case, Osetkowski's agent, Dragan Jankovski, publicly stated that the American player "hasn’t been subjected to any fines, sanctions, or suspensions by any anti-doping agency globally, including those in Spain at any time in the past." This statement emphasizes the player's clean record despite the ongoing investigation.

Osetkowski officially joined Partizan Belgrade in late June, marking the Serbian powerhouse's first signing of the offseason. Before this move and amidst the previous doping proceedings, he was recognized for his on-court performance, being named an All-Basketball Champions League First Team player in 2025. The re-emergence of this doping investigation adds a layer of complexity to the start of his tenure with Partizan Belgrade.
