Aamir Khan's Sitaare Zameen Par Day 12 Box Office

Aamir Khan’s latest film ‘Sitaare Zameen Par’ has demonstrated remarkable resilience at the box office, maintaining a steady performance even into its second week of release. The movie has successfully surpassed the significant Rs 130 crore milestone, showcasing its sustained appeal to audiences.

The film began its theatrical run with strong opening numbers and has consistently held its ground. According to early estimates from Sacnilk, ‘Sitaare Zameen Par’ garnered approximately Rs 4 crore on its second Tuesday (Day 12), bringing its cumulative collection to a robust Rs 130.40 crore. This steady climb is evident in its daily box office performance: Day 1 (Friday): Rs 10.7 crore, Day 2 (Saturday): Rs 20.2 crore, Day 3 (Sunday): Rs 27.25 crore, Day 4 (Monday): Rs 8.5 crore, Day 5 (Tuesday): Rs 8.5 crore, Day 6 (Wednesday): Rs 7.25 crore, Day 7 (Thursday): Rs 6.5 crore. This brought the first week's total to Rs 88.9 crore. Its second week continued with Day 8 (Friday): Rs 6.65 crore, Day 9 (Saturday): Rs 12.6 crore, Day 10 (Sunday): Rs 14.50 crore, Day 11 (Monday): Rs 3.75 crore, and Day 12 (Tuesday) estimated at Rs 4 crore. These figures highlight the film's ability to perform well not only during weekends but also to sustain collections on weekdays, which typically see a drop.

On its twelfth day, ‘Sitaare Zameen Par’ recorded an overall occupancy of 18.29% in the Hindi language. The occupancy rates steadily increased throughout the day, with morning shows at 11.01%, afternoon shows at 15.51%, evening shows at 20.79%, and night shows peaking at a healthy 25.84%, indicating growing audience engagement as the day progressed.

Just days after the film's release, Aamir Khan, in an interview with Pinkvilla, emphasized the crucial role of audience support for diverse cinematic stories. He articulated that the types of films audiences choose to watch directly influence what filmmakers will produce in the future. Khan stated, “People love stories. All kinds of stories. If you only support action films, that’s all filmmakers will make. And then you will have to watch only action movies in theatres. If you like all types of films and want to watch all types of films, go to theatres. Your support gives creators the freedom to tell diverse stories.” He further explained that audience choices empower creators, giving them the strength to pursue projects from their hearts rather than succumbing to studio demands for specific genres.

Contrary to initial perceptions that ‘Sitaare Zameen Par’ might be solely a sports film, its essence lies in a deeply moving narrative. The movie beautifully portrays the journey of a basketball coach, portrayed by Aamir Khan, who undertakes the heartfelt task of training a team composed of players with special needs. Genelia D’Souza co-stars, adding her warmth to the ensemble. The film also proudly introduces ten promising new talents: Aroush Datta, Gopi Krishna Varma, Samvit Desai, Vedant Sharma, Ayush Bhansali, Ashish Pendse, Rishi Shahani, Rishabh Jain, Naman Mishra, and Simran Mangeshkar. These young actors bring genuine heart and authenticity to their roles, significantly enhancing the film's emotional impact and overall brilliance.
