Dr Bryan Acheampong praises government's efforts to implement the '1 Million Coders' initiative

The Member of Parliament for Abetifi, Dr Bryan Acheampong, has praised the government's forward-looking approach to education and youth employment, citing the ongoing efforts to implement the ambitious "1 Million Coders" initiative.

Speaking at a public lecture on June 26, 2025, he highlighted the urgent need to align Ghana’s education system with the demands of the 21st-century digital economy.

"Our educational system is still producing graduates for a 20th-century economy while the current century demands coders, data scientists, ethical hackers, and AI ethicists," he noted.

Dr Acheampong described Ghana’s education sector as being "at a crossroads," requiring bold reforms to produce adaptive learners who are ready for a rapidly changing world.

He emphasised that the "1 Million Coders" initiative, championed by the current government, could be a game changer if implemented effectively.

"If they succeed in implementing it well, it will be good for the country," he stated.

His remarks underscore the growing national conversation about education reform, youth employment, and the role of technology in shaping Ghana's future workforce.
