Downpour in 35 revenue circles of Marathwada
Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: In the 24-hour period ending Wednesday morning, 35 revenue circles across the Marathwada region experienced heavy rainfall of around 65 mm. A "revenue circle" is a local administrative sub-division within the districts, often managed by a revenue inspector, responsible for land records and tax collection.This widespread heavy rain indicates a significant impact on the region. Jalna district bore the brunt, reporting the highest number of affected circles with 17. This was followed by five circles each in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar and Latur districts, four circles in Hingoli, and three circles in Nanded.Among different damages, tin roofs of around 60 homes in Jawkheda village from Bhokardan taluka of Jalna district were blown away due to heavy winds on Tuesday evening.
In Latur, a makeshift diversion bridge on the Renapur-Ashta road was washed away on Tuesday evening, leading to diversion of vehicular traffic.As per data available with the Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar divisional commissionerate, Marathwada reported an average of 24mm rainfall between Tuesday and Wednesday morning. At 45mm Jalna district reported maximum rainfall followed by Nanded (30 mm), Hingoli (27 mm), Beed (26 mm), Parbhani (23 mm), Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar (12 mm), and Dharashiv (10 mm).
According to the IMD, many parts of Marathwada are likely to witness more rainfall for the next 48 hours, with some areas receiving a yellow alert with chances of thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and light to moderate rainfall amid gusty winds.Four deaths in two separate incidentsIn Nanded district, three members of a family drowned on Tuesday evening in an overflowing nullah at Warvat village in Hadgaon taluka.
The victims were identified as Aruna Shakirage (35), her daughter Durga (8), and her niece Sameeksha (7).Nanded district disaster management officer Kishor Kurhe said, "The family was returning from a farm when a sudden intense downpour caused the local nullah to flood. The trio were swept away while attempting to cross it. The body of one girl was found near the nullah, while the other two missing individuals were later found about seven kilometers away."In the second incident, that occurred in Beed, 37-year-old Dnyaneshwar Parade, a resident of Takalgavhan village in Georai taluka, was swept away by the surging Jambul river on Tuesday evening.
