Don Lulu drags Davido, others to Abia for Don, Ikoro Fms
Umuawa Alaocha in Umuahia, Abia State, will come alive on Friday, June 27, as media entrepreneur and philanthropist, Mayor Lucky Igbokwe, popularly known as Don Lulu, unveils two new radio stations; Don FM 103.7 and Ikoro FM 93.3.
The event, projected to be one of the biggest entertainment and cultural spectacles the South-East has witnessed would bring together top Nigerian artistes including Davido, Timaya, Kcee, Bright Chimezie, Peruzzi, Zlatan, Zoro, and Jeriq
Igbokwe noted that the artistes would be joined by top comedians Sabinus and Funnybone, alongside celebrity nightlife impresario Cubana Chief Priest.
Their participation, Igbokwe said, is a strong endorsement of merging entertainment, culture, and community development.
The event would commence at 10:00a.m. with a grand cultural ceremony at Umuawa Alaocha Town Square, featuring traditional dancers, indigenous music, and a live inaugural radio broadcast. Later in the afternoon, the celebrations will move to the Umuahia Township Stadium, which will host a star-studded concert set to draw fans from across the South-East and beyond.
Don FM 103.7 is designed to appeal to the youth, a digital-savvy, trendsetting generation – with contemporary music, entertainment, and interactive content.
In contrast, Ikoro FM 93.3 is a platform dedicated to preserving and promoting Igbo heritage through folk music, indigenous storytelling, and community-focused programming. Together, the stations symbolise a new approach to regional broadcasting – one that honours tradition while embracing modernity.
“This is not just about launching radio stations. It’s about creating a cultural blueprint, empowering our youth, and ensuring the soul of our people echoes far beyond Abia’s borders,” Igbokwe said.
The significance of the day is further amplified by the fact that it also marks Don Lulu’s birthday, a personal milestone that shows his lifelong commitment to uplifting his community.
Over the past two decades, Igbokwe has quietly become one of the most influential figures in philanthropy and development in Abia State. Through the Don Lulu Foundation, he has provided educational scholarships, built classrooms, improved rural electrification, and supported healthcare access for vulnerable groups.
The foundation has constructed homes for the less privileged, empowered widows, and provided interest-free loans to small-scale entrepreneurs, artisans, and traders.
Its flagship programmes, the “Back to School” initiative and the “Scholarship Endowment Fund” have transformed lives across communities in the state.”
A notable highlight of the foundation’s work includes the donation of a 300 KVA transformer to a rural community, drastically improving local access to power.
Don Lulu’s impact is not limited to philanthropy. As a United Nations Mayor for Peace, his advocacy for peace, equity, and grassroots development has earned him national and international recognition.
His foray into politics as a recent governorship aspirant in Abia State further demonstrated his commitment to public service and people-centred leadership.
