Discussion on Port Performance in South Africa

The 11th Annual Port Performance Roadshow for the South African Port system is scheduled for May, offering a platform for port users to discuss issues affecting the country's eight commercial ports managed by the Transnet National Ports Authority (TNPA). The roadshow begins on May 8 in Saldanha Bay and concludes on May 28 in Mossel Bay. Each session will provide updates from the relevant port and allow participants to voice concerns and challenges.

Selma Schwartz from the South African Maritime Safety Authority (SAMSA) notes that the consultation process allows port users to comment on Port Plans before TNPA presents them at PCC meetings and before August 1. Comments received will be submitted to TNPA and registered at the Special PCC Sitting of the 4th Quarter 2025/2026 PCC meetings to consider CAPEX implications.

The roadshow sessions will cover port development frameworks, capital programs for 2024-2026, port performance, economic activity, volume projections, TNPA's oversight regime, planned dredging maintenance, marine operations, and resource utilization. The Ports Regulator of South Africa will also participate to clarify the economic regulatory process starting in August.

Interested parties are invited to RSVP for the port sessions, which start at 9 am at the following venues:
