Diogo Jota: Mohamed Salah Set to Cut Holiday Short Following Death of Liverpool Teammate
Liverpool players, including Golden Boot winner Mohamed Salah, continue to mourn the loss of Diogo Jota, with the Egyptian forward set to cut his holiday short in light of the tragedy.

Diogo Jota and his brother Andre Silva died after the Lamborghini they were travelling in veered off the road and caught fire in northwestern Spain.
The brothers are set to be buried in the coming days. Jota's wife, Cardoso and his family are still grieving after losing their loved ones.
Cristiano Ronaldo, Liverpool boss Arne Slot, his former coach Jurgen Klopp, captain Virgil van Dijk, and Lionel Messi have paid their tributes to the Portugal international.
Ronaldo was heartbroken after news of his teammate's demise broke, saying it did not make sense.
“It doesn't make sense. Just now we were together in the national team, and now you had got married. To your family, to your wife and to your children, I send condolences and wish you all the strength in the world," Ronaldo wrote on Instagram.
Ronaldo played alongside the deceased footballer at the Portugal national team and recently won the UEFA Nations League. Liverpool boss Arne Slot was speechless.
"What can anyone say at a time like this when the shock and the pain is so incredibly raw? I wish I had the words but I know I do not," Slot's statement on Liverpool's website read.
Liverpool defender Andy Robertson posted a poignant tribute on Instagram, reflecting on attending Diogo Jota's wedding just two weeks ago and spending cherished moments with the 28-year-old.
"I want to talk about my mate. My buddy. The bloke I loved and will miss like crazy...Robertson wrote on Instagram.
"The last time I saw him was the happiest day of his life – his wedding day. I want to remember his never-ceasing smile from that magical day. How much he was bursting with love for his wife and family."
Salah, like most of his teammates, including Jota, had been enjoying his holiday, but the news of the Portugal star’s passing has left them devastated.
They were preparing to return for pre-season next week, and it will undoubtedly be a sombre day for players, staff, and fans. His empty locker in the dressing room will surely evoke deep sorrow.
According to the reports in Egypt via the Daily Mail, Salah is set to cut short his holiday and return to Liverpool following Jota's death.
The Egyptian international has been enjoying his holidays in Turkey and was recently seen in Greece. He is coming off a season where he won the Premier League and the Golden Boot.

Salah and Jota played 150 times together and combined for 19 goals.
Jota becomes the latest high-profile footballer to die during their career. Former Arsenal star Jose Antonio Reyes died in a car crash in 2019.
Cameroon legend Marc-Vivien Foe collapsed and died on the pitch during the Confederation Cup in 2003.
