'Dilemma of a Ghost' stage play to continue author's legacy - Fiifi Coleman
Fiifi Coleman, director and actor, has expressed his commitment to preserving the legacy of renowned Ghanaian author and playwright Ama Ata Aidoo through the stage play Dilemma of a Ghost.
Speaking during a review of the play on Channel One TV’s The Chat program on Saturday, May 31, Coleman highlighted the importance of keeping Ama Ata Aidoo’s work alive for current and future generations.
According to him, “What we are doing now is to continue her legacy. At the end of the day, Ama Ata Aidoo should be on the lips of every Ghanaian. And even if you forget any of her books, it shouldn’t be Dilemma of a Ghost. There should be no book of hers that cannot be forgotten that you need to relate to.”
Coleman explained that his commitment to repeatedly bringing the play to the stage is driven by the powerful moral lessons embedded in the story.
He assured audiences of the continuance of the play, signaling his ongoing efforts to keep Aidoo’s legacy alive for generations to come.
“Every now and then I will be staging this play. This is not the last time. The last time I staged this play was two years ago. I am doing this because of the moral lessons in there,” he added.
