Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs was denied bail on Wednesday, June 2, after the jury in his federal sex trafficking trial returned its verdict and convicted him on two lesser charges of transportation to engage in prostitution. In a dramatic moment in court, shortly after the verdict was read, Diddy fell to his knees and prayed, leaning on his chair, CBS News reported.

Jurors found Diddy not guilty of the three most serious charges against him. CBS News New York’s Alice Gainer described Diddy’s reaction after the verdict was read. “Sean Combs pumped his fist at one point when they said that first ‘not guilty.’ When the jury foreperson, that’s juror number five, was the one who was reading the verdict, he pumped his fist,” Gainer said. “After the verdict was read and once everyone, the judge and the jury, left the courtroom, man, the applause was thunderous from his family.”

Diddy’s mother, his three daughters, his sons, as well as other family members were present in court. “They were just cheering. He was clapping. And it’s such an interesting visual, because, again, he’s by the defense table. It’s not like he can run up and hug them. He’s not a free man. He was convicted of two of the five counts,” Gainer said.

Diddy faced his family after the bail hearing, and said, according to CNN, “We’re gonna make it through this.”

“I’ll see you when I get out,” he added.

Diddy was seen blowingkisses to the two rows in the courtroom that his friends and families had occupied. “I love you all,” he said. “Be strong.”

Before being escorted out of the courtroom and back into detention, Diddy said, “I love you, mom.”

Defence attorney Marc Agnifilo turned to Diddy’s supporters after the judge left the bench, saying the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York never loses racketeering cases. He added that Diddy was not afraid and showed up. “He’ll get his life back,” Agnifilo said. “Winning is winning. You live your life and you live a good life.”
