Diddy denied bail, to remain in prison till Oct sentencing - TheCable Lifestyle

The music mogul, on since May, faced charges including kidnapping, arson, blackmail, and abuse involving three alleged victims — among them his ex-partner Cassie Ventura.

On Wednesday, a jury delivered a split verdict,  him of transportation to engage in prostitution while acquitting him of sex trafficking and racketeering conspiracy.

Marc Agnifilo, Diddy’s lawyer, sought his release on $1 million bail, citing family obligations, including his twin daughters who lost their mother Kim Porter.

“I think we should trust him. He’s not going to flee. He’s been given his life back. He’s going to have next chapters of his life,” the lawyer said.

Prosecutors countered that the rapper posed a flight risk and a danger to the community.

Arun Subramanian, the judge, sided with prosecutors, noting Diddy’s history of violence, including footage of him assaulting Cassie, and a recent altercation with a woman identified as ‘Jane’ after his home was raided.

The judge emphasised Diddy’s “disregard for the law” and failure to prove he wasn’t a threat.

Though cleared of the most severe charges, the 55-year-old still faces up to 10 years per count for the prostitution-related conviction. His  in September 2024 followed allegations from over 120 accusers, including a minor.

The rapper will continue to be held at the same federal jail in Brooklyn where he has been detained since last year.

The sentencing was tentatively set for October 3.
