The last time these two teams faced off was in New Jersey where the Pirates won 85-80 in overtime, the second time the Blue Demons lost a conference matchup in overtime. In that game, the Blue Demons were led by C.J. Gunn with 21 points. He shot 6-14 (42.9%) overall, 5-9 (55.6) from downtown, and 4-5 (80%) from the charity strike.
Seton Hall, meanwhile, was led by Isaiah Coleman and Dylan Addae-Wusu, who each scored 24 points. Coleman, in particular, shot a nailbiter three-pointer that sent the game to overtime.
Both teams look for their second conference win of the season, and DePaul is the only Big East team that Seton Hall has defeated this season.
DePaul (10-12, 1-10) and Seton Hall (6-15, 1-9)

Seton Hall has suffered six straight losses, now at 1-9 in conference. They also haven’t played like a Shaheen Holloway-coached team, giving up at least 75 points in five of those six losses.
One positive is the play of Isaiah Coleman. The sophomore leads Seton Hall with 15.1 points per game and 5.1 rebounds per game.
But after Coleman, the secondary and depth pieces haven’t been able to give much help. Chaunce Jenkins and Dylan Addae-Wusu are both shooting under 40% from the field and after them, no one else is even averaging over eight points per game.
It’s been a nightmare season for Seton Hall, and at this point, their only hope is to knock off a few teams and play spoiler.
Like their opponents, the Blue Demons only have one conference win on the season.
In their previous game against the UConn Huskies, DePaul suffered a 61-72 defeat. In the loss, they were led by Layden Blocker with 18 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists, and 1 steal. He did this while shooting 6-8 (75%) from the floor, 1-2 (50%) from beyond the arc, and 5-8 (62.5%) from the free throw line.
As a team, they shot 21-50 (42%) overall, 13-18 (72.2%) from the line, and 6-21 (28.6%) from long range. For the last several matches, the Blue Demons have struggled from beyond the arc. Previously, the team shot among the top three in the Big East. As of late, the shooting percentages have continued to climb down, currently standing at 35.9% which is fifth in the conference.
Jacob Meyer still leads the team in scoring, averaging 12 points. However, he continues to be in a slump regarding scoring and perimeter shooting.
Since the loss to Marquette, Meyer still has yet to record a double-digit scoring performance. Against UConn, he did not score in five shots attempted. In those four games, all but one did he shoot above 30% overall.
Holtmann has previously credited his performances to him becoming more noticeable and getting more attention from conference opponents who have defended him aggressively, not giving him any opportunity for an easy basket.
Seton Hall took the first matchup, but the Pirates have not been able to escape the injury bug since. Players haven’t been playing 100% and Isaiah Coleman has had to shoulder nearly all of the offense. I see a seventh straight loss for the Pirates.
