Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Monday announced that the BJP-led government will present its 'Viksit Delhi' budget for 2025-26 in the assembly between March 24 and 26. The budget will incorporate suggestions from various sections of society, she said.

Addressing a press conference, which was also attended by cabinet ministers Parvesh Sahib Singh, Ashish Sood, and Manjinder Singh Sirsa, Gupta said the government is making efforts to ensure public participation in the budget-making process. "To make this a people's budget, we will meet representatives from different women's organisations on March 5 on the assembly premises. Additionally, we will hold discussions with stakeholders from the education sector and traders on March 6," the chief minister said.

To facilitate citizen engagement, the Delhi government has launched an email ID ([email protected]) and a WhatsApp number (999962025), allowing residents to send their suggestions.

Gupta highlighted key focus areas for the budget, including financial assistance for women, expansion of health services, promotion of public transport, pollution control, Yamuna cleaning, employment generation, and senior citizen welfare.

"Financial assistance for women, expansion of health services, promoting public transport, reducing pollution, cleaning the Yamuna, employment, welfare of senior citizens, and other important issues were part of our manifesto. Our aim now is to take into account the priorities of the people of Delhi and prepare the budget outline accordingly," she said.

Gupta reaffirmed her government's commitment to fulfilling all promises made in the BJP’s ‘Sankalp Patra’ and said work was being done on a "war footing" to achieve this. She also took a swipe at the previous AAP government, alleging corruption and financial mismanagement.

She further emphasised that only two Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) reports have been tabled in the assembly so far, and they have already exposed multiple irregularities of the AAP government. "Twelve more CAG reports are yet to be tabled, and more irregularities are likely to surface," Gupta claimed.

Meanwhile, the Delhi CM said the assembly will discuss the CAG report on the health sector later in the day. "The AAP has already been exposed before the people of Delhi. Today, everyone is witnessing how AAP deceived them. They came to Delhi wearing the cloak of honesty but crossed every limit of dishonesty," the CM said.
