Defence minister pledges government's commitment in addressing urgent challenges at 37 Military Hospital

The Minister of Defence, Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, has pledged the government's commitment to resolving the critical challenges currently facing the 37 Military Hospital.

This assurance was given in a recent Facebook post by Dr. Boamah on Friday, February 14th, following a working visit to the hospital.

Accompanied by the Chief of Defence Staff and senior officers from the Ministry of Defence, Dr. Omane Boamah, who has a medical background, described the visit as a return to his roots.

He was warmly received by both his former colleagues, including senior and junior staff, as well as civilian employees and patients.

The visit was part of a broader initiative by the minister to gain a comprehensive understanding of the issues within the Ghana Armed Forces and to devise tailored, cost-effective solutions. Despite the numerous challenges at the hospital, he emphasized that they are not beyond resolution.

Following his visit, Dr. Omane Boamah confirmed that President John Dramani Mahama's administration is taking urgent steps to tackle the most pressing issues hindering the hospital's capacity to deliver quality healthcare.

"This working visit is part of my deliberate strategy to deeply engage with the challenges facing the Ghana Armed Forces, aiming to provide tailored and cost-effective solutions," he stated.

"The challenges are many, but not insurmountable."

"After my visit, the government under President John Dramani Mahama is making determined efforts to address the urgent and critical issues essential for providing quality care at the hospital," he added.

He reiterated the government’s commitment to overcoming these challenges as part of a larger effort to rejuvenate Ghana's institutions.
