Dead by Daylight Chapter 36: Five Nights at Freddy's is an upcoming crossover chapter in the multiplayer asymmetrical survival horror game Dead by Daylight. The chapter will include a new killer, William Afton - The Animatronic, a new map, Freddy Fazbear's Pizza, and potentially other content from the Five Nights at Freddy's franchise. The chapter is set to release in June, 2025.
The crossover was first revealed during the 10th anniversary week in August 2024, on the fifth. Later in the month, the Dead by Daylight team mentioned that more info on the collab would be revealed in 2025.[1] After a few months of silence, in April 2025, the team would announce that more info on the chapter would be revealed at PAX East.[2] On May 9, the killer, a map, and the release date of June were announced.[3] While there is no set date, a livestream showcasing the chapter could happen in early June,[4] along with the Public Test Build (PTB).[5] A dev stream that will dive deeper into the chapter is planned to go live on May 27 at 11:00 AM, with the PTB going live on Steam an hour later.[6]
In February 2025, the Dead by Daylight team announced the "Quality of Life Initiative," which is planned to "address many longstanding concerns and frustrations" players have had with the game and experience. In return for this initiative, the team had decided to delay any upcoming chapters, rifts, event modifiers, and collections, which will affect the release of the Five Nights at Freddy's chapter this Summer.[7]

The gameplay centers around 1 killer vs. 4 survivors. The survivors' task is to fix five generators to power one of two gates that'll help them escape. As they do this, a killer is hunting them, hindering them from progressing quickly and impaling them on hooks.
In the Five Nights at Freddy's chapter, Chapter 36, a new killer is added, The Animatronic, also known as William Afton. The mechanics and perks of the killer are currently unknown.
The chapter also introduces a new map, Freddy Fazbear's Pizza. The map is set at an abandoned Freddy Fazbear's Pizza location seemingly surrounded by a forest. The inside is decrepit and messy; the party room stage has three of the location's entertainers: Freddy Fazbear, Bonnie the Rabbit, and Chica the Chicken. The center of the room's roof is open, letting the night sky shine into the building, as a fleshy, bloody mesh lines the gap in the ceiling and is scattered around the pizzeria. Other rooms include an arcade full of arcade machines, neon lights, and a ball pit; a craftroom with various extra animatronic parts and a chair holding a seemingly bloody endoskeleton; and more to be revealed.
The Animatronic, also known as William Afton, is the fortieth playable killer in Dead by Daylight and the seventeenth licensed killer. He will be voiced by PJ Heywood.[8]

- There were other options being considered for the killer, but in the end, and after talking with Scott Cawthon, everyone quickly agreed that Springtrap was the right choice to satisfy both the DbD and FNaF communities.[10]
