The unveiling ceremony took place in Lavington, on Thursday, May 15.

The party, which adopts neon green, brown, and white as its official colours, carries the slogan “Skiza Wakenya” and features a logo of an ear with fingers cupped around it—symbolising attentiveness to the voices of ordinary citizens.

Gachagua will serve as the party leader, supported by a team of interim officials appointed to key leadership positions. These include:

Other appointed officials are:

  • Hannah Mutua – National Treasurer
  • Wanjra Njoka – Deputy National Treasurer

The former deputy president did not appoint any current elected leaders to the interim leadership.

The decision marks a strategic shift, as Gachagua positions the party as a fresh political alternative untainted by current political officeholders.

The new party is likely to focus on the Mt. Kenya voting bloc. Many of the interim officials have roots or influence in the region, indicating an attempt to consolidate support there.

As part of the launch, DCP also unveiled a series of rallying songs designed to energise supporters and sharpen its message in what is shaping up to be a fierce political contest against President William Ruto.

Two of the songs—one in Kiswahili and another in English—carry powerful themes focused on economic liberation, listening to citizens, and expanding democratic space.

The lyrics call on Kenyans to unite in the face of economic hardship and reject oppressive policies.

One Kiswahili anthem features the lines:

“Komboa payslip, Okoa Wakenya, Unganisha Kenya!” and “Skiza Wakenya! Waongo waende kabisa! DCP ni mwamko mpya, utaboresha afya na itaokoa payslip!”

The songs have already gained traction online, forming a core part of DCP’s identity as a grassroots movement aimed at “redeeming the payslip” and restoring dignity to ordinary Kenyans.

Meanwhile, according to videos obtained by , a group of unidentified individuals, suspected to be hired goons, stormed the venue and disrupted the event, plunging the gathering into chaos.

The abrupt intrusion forced leaders and guests to flee for safety as chaos and scuffles erupted within the compound.

A man in plain clothes, believed to be part of Rigathi Gachagua’s security detail, was seen firing live rounds into the air to disperse the crowd, as law enforcement struggled to regain control of the situation.
