Afrobeats superstar David Adedeji Adeleke Jnr, better known as Davido, during the week, rolled out the red carpet for his special guest, highlife music maestro and Zigima sound exponent, Bright Chimezie in his Banana Island Lagos home.

  The meeting comes just days after the Fall and Assurance hitmaker publicly acknowledged Chimezie’s 2018 hit, Because of English, as the inspiration behind his latest song With You, a collaboration with fellow star Omah Lay.

   In videos shared on Instagram on Monday, the Omo Baba Olowo singer was seen warmly greeting and engaging in lively conversation with the legendary performer. Davido had in a video call shared online last week, expressed his appreciation for Chimezie’s artistry and extended an invitation to meet in person.

  “I got inspiration from your song, God bless you” Davido said during the call, which was posted by businessman and nightlife mogul Pascal Chibuike Okechukwu popularly known as Cubana Chief Priest.

   During the conversation, Davido previewed the visual of the song— With You — for the Abia State -born music legend and extended a warm invitation to him to Lagos. “It would be nice to meet you face-to-face,” Davido said.

  Warmly responding, the Ube Nwanne, Respect Africa, and African Style hitmaker, praised the song as a “beautiful piece of work” and expressed his appreciation for Davido’s homage to his musical legacy.

   Keeping to his promise, Davido hosted the iconic Chimezie, who arrived in one of Davido’s luxury vehicles, warmly welcomed by the singer himself. The meeting marks a symbolic and touching moment in Nigerian music history, highlighting the wedlock of Naija beats, Afrobeats and highlife, as well as the mutual respect between artists across generations.
