The Posh fell to a 3-1 defeat in a pre-season friendly against Leicester City at the Seagrave training complex on Saturday afternoon.

Darragh MacAnthony posted a video onto Twitter at 10pm, with @DMAC102 captioning it – “First pre season game with@LCFC loved it.”

“Right. Outside of Leicester. I have to say a big thank you to them for looking after us so well. It’s lovely here.

“And, yeah, just played first pre season friendly. Fucking loved it. It was great. Thought the boys did really well. Usual sloppy stuff in pre season. So much to be excited about, and the younger lads did fantastic.

“So really excited guys, and, as I said, you can get too excited pre season whether you win or lose, but it’s always good to, you know, have to camp, see a bit of football. There’s only so many training drills and finishing sessions you can watch until you see the real stuff.

“So again, thank you to Leicester for looking out for us so well in this beautiful place. What a training ground this is by the way. Have a good weekend everybody.”

“Whopper”

“Apologies for triggering you again Joey. Look forward to when our paths cross again which they will at some point. It will be fun.. just like last time 😁👍🏻”

Despite the defeat, Posh manager Darren Ferguson saw positives in the performance against a recently relegated Premier League side.

Leicester fielded two different teams each half, while Posh, almost did the same – with Lucca Mendonca the only player completing 90 minutes at the heart of a youthful back-line.

The first half lacked clear chances, with Leicester dominating possession and a Posh goal disallowed for offside.

The second half saw more action, with Leicester’s Louis Page scoring a deflected opener, Posh’s Chris Conn-Clarke levelled with a fine long-range strike, and Page quickly restoring Leicester’s lead. Silko Thomas sealed the 3-1 win with a stunning late strike.
