Daredevil: Born Again Star Reveals Kevin Feige's Role in Revival's Creative Overhaul

Published 1 month ago3 minute read

Daredevil: Born Again star Vincent D’Onofrio has opened up about Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige’s vital role in the Disney+ revival’s creative overhaul. The Emmy-nominated actor has been playing the fan-favorite villain Wilson Fisk/Kingpin since 2015, which began in Netflix’s original Daredevil series.

During a recent interview on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, D’Onofrio once again addressed the creative overhaul that Daredevil: Born Again had to go through prior to its series debut. Even though the revival’s original creative team had a great idea, both him and Charlie Cox felt that the story was straying far away from the characters they’ve been playing. "Between Charlie and I, yes, it was a collective idea. You know, I have to say that the initial writers,. The idea was a good idea,” he shared. “Unfortunately, . Charlie and I couldn't understand how we were supposed to portray these characters that everybody loves within the environment that they were putting us in.”

CBR got to sit with Daredevil: Born Again's Genneya Walton and how she enjoyed playing BB Urich as well as her favorite Marvel movie.

D’Onofrio confirmed that Feige played an important part in granting the show the creative overhaul it needed, praising the MCU architect for being so approachable and understanding with their concerns. "So we kept on bumping against that the whole time. ," he recalled."He listens to everything, and he watches everything, and you can talk to him like you can anybody on the crew. He's a very straight-up dude. He's got to be, I would say, as far as his position, completely unique."

Luckily enough, we have a boss named Kevin Feige.

The Emmy nominee continued, “In forty years of acting, he's completely unique to me, in the context of the position that he's in. He listened very clearly, and he did the diligence to get to the bottom of it, and it ended up the way it ended up. We were actively communicating,. We felt like their idea was amazing, but that we were gonna eventually fail if we didn't right the ship a bit."
