The Tin-Can Island Command of the Nigeria Customs Service has said it is targeting two-hour cargo clearance the moment the implementation of B’Odogwu kicks off fully at the command.
The Comptroller General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi, had stated that the localised online platform code named B’Odogwu is to fast-track cargo clearance and eliminate previous glitches experienced during documentation.
This is even as the command’s revenue generation profile stood at N145 billion in the month of April 2025.
Speaking while playing host to executives of the Shipping Correspondent Association of Nigeria (SCAN), the Customs Area Comptroller (CAC), Tin-Can Island Command, Compt. Franklin Onyeka, has said the full take-off of B’Odogwu will enhance trade facilitation in the country.
He said the new technology is network glitch-free, hence would ease the difficulties in cargo clearance and facilitate trade.
Comptroller Onyeka said: “We are targeting a minimum of two hours cargo clearance the moment B’Odogwu takes off here in Tin-Can Island Command. Under normal circumstances, if you declare properly at TinCan, with B’Odogwu, you can move in two hours.”
The CAC noted that the major challenge facing the implementation of B’odogwu remains a knowledge gap among stakeholders.
