The Convention People's Party (CPP) has warmly welcomed and expressed profound gratitude following the official reinstatement of July 1st as Republic Day and September 21st as Founder's Day in Ghana.

This historic announcement came in the wake of the government’s declaration on June 25th, reinstating September 21st as Founder's Day and restoring July 1st as a public holiday, a move that reaffirms the nation’s commitment to honouring its rich heritage.

In a statement released today, the party declared, "Today, exactly a fortnight after the 76th anniversary of the formation of the Convention People's Party at Saltpond by Osagyefo Dr Kwame Nkrumah, the Party has been given another reason to celebrate, as a result of the reinstatement of 1st July as Republic Day and 21st September as Founder's Day."

On behalf of Nkrumaists worldwide, the CPP sincerely thanked President John Dramani Mahama, the NDC government, and the 9th Parliament for their support.

"The Convention People's Party expresses its sincere thanks to the President of Ghana, President John Dramani Mahama, the National Democratic Congress Government, and the Parliamentarians of the 9th Parliament of the Republic of Ghana for this enactment."

Highlighting the deep significance of these dates, the party reflected, "The events of 1st July 1960, when Ghana transitioned from a parliamentary system with a Governor-General to a republic with Osagyefo Dr Kwame Nkrumah as its first president, is indeed worthy as a day of rest, celebration, and sober reflection." They added that September 21, 1909, the birthdate of Osagyefo Dr Kwame Nkrumah, holds equal importance as Founder’s Day.

Expressing immense appreciation for the restoration of these pivotal national days, the CPP stated, "The CPP is immensely grateful for the restoration of these dates to the importance they deserve."

The statement ended with the party’s enduring rallying cry:
"Forward Ever! Backwards Never! Long Live Ghana!"
