CorSera: Three points only positive as Milan desperately must stop half-performances | OneFootball
As highlighted by today’s edition of Corriere dello Sera (via MilanNews), the only positive thing from Milan’s performance was the fact that they got all three points in the end. A response was expected after the defeat to Feyenoord, but instead the fans got to see a terrible first half.
There was really only one big chance in the first 45 minutes, which was spectacularly wasted by Yunus Musah in front of goal. The players were rightfully jeered by the fans as they headed for the tunnel, once again failing to have the right mentality and attitude.
The Rossoneri managed to change gears in the second half, without overdoing anything, and found the winner through Gimenez. It was his first goal at San Siro and his second consecutive strike in the league.
Then again, as has happened so many times under Conceicao’s management, the difference was made by substitutions and the second half. Milan returned from the locker room with Rafael Leao and Alex Jimenez, who both created the move which allowed Gimenez to score the goal.
It’s clear that the top-four mission will be very difficult with these ‘half-performances’, as the newspaper calls them, and that can also be said for the return against Feyenoord on Tuesday. In short, the team still has a long way to go.
