COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho -- A wildfire near the Canfield Mountain in Coeur d'Alene is now 50% contained.

The Idaho Department of Lands says forward progression has been stopped on the Nettleton Gulch Fire and acreage has been updated to 23 acres.

All U.S. Forest Service lands, roads, and trails west of Fernan Road (FSR 268), all FS lands, roads, and trails west of FSR 1525 and south of Yellow Banks Creek, and all FS lands roads, and trails south of Hayden Lake are closed for firefighter safety and access.  The closure does not include FSR 268 or 1535.

The cause of the fire will be determined by IDL, but Kootenai County Sheriff says the gunman who killed two firefighters, Wess Roley, is suspected of having started it. A flint starter was found near his body.
