Confirmed: Who will present the Premier League trophy to Virgil van Dijk

The Reds’ current captain will receive the silverware from , one of his illustrious predecessors as club skipper, after the champions’ final game of the season against Crystal Palace.

Also involved will be community representatives Mark and Jo McVeigh of the . Mark and Jo will bring the trophy pitchside and place it on a plinth for Hansen to then hand over to Van Dijk.

Immediately after the final whistle, the players will leave the pitch while preparations are made for the trophy lift, with a stage to be built before Arne Slot’s squad are welcomed back out.

Liverpool legend Hansen made 620 appearances for the club, winning eight league titles – three of which were as captain, including in the 1989-90 season, which was the last time supporters witnessed the Reds lifting the top-flight championship trophy.

It will be an emotional return to Anfield to be part of the presentation party for Hansen, who has recently recovered from a battle with ill health.

Mark and Jo, meanwhile, have been praised for their work in the community to help create memorable experiences for families with children battling cancer.

They started the Owen McVeigh Foundation in 2015 after the passing of their son Owen to leukaemia. They have since worked tirelessly to create memorable experiences for families through the Oncology ward (3B) at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital.

The charity has grown from strength to strength with the support of LFC and LFC Foundation, with Van Dijk also supporting its work. As a charity partner, it has received regular donations to create memorable experiences for the families in its care.

Mark, Jo and the Owen McVeigh Foundation are a celebrated part of the LFC family.
