'CoComelon' Is Leaving Netflix and Heading to Disney+
CoComelon fans will soon be watching JJ and his family and friends on Disney+. Starting in 2027, the popular children's show, which launched in 2006, will leave Netflix and head to its new streaming service, Disney confirms with Parents.
This means Disney+ will become home to four out of the top 10 streaming shows for kids, ages 2-5. Those already include beloved No. 1 hit Bluey, followed by Spidey and His Amazing Friends, and Mickey Mouse Clubhouse.
The shows on Disney+ don't end there. Some other fan favorites include Doc McStuffins, SuperKitties, and Puppy Dog Pals. What's more, you can catch some oldies but goodies, such as Mickey Mouse (shorts), The Proud Family, and Curious George.
But if you're a family that loves Netflix, here's everything we know about the switch so far and what that means for you.
There are varying reasons for the change.
A source close to the negotiations tells Parents that Netflix put in a bid to renew the series (at a higher price than the current fee), but Disney outbid the streaming service.
Meanwhile, Netflix shares it declined to renew the CoComelon license because of a decrease in viewership. CoComelon didn't make it on the top 10 overall streaming programs in 2024, while it appeared as No. 5 on the top 10 acquired streaming programs of 2023, according to Nielsen.
Keep in mind, you can also watch CoComelon on its original home, YouTube. There are new videos uploaded every week.
Families who don't have Disney+ will still get to watch JJ on Netflix as the spinoff, Cocomelon Lane, isn't going anywhere. The Netflix original premiered in 2023 with season 1, which had more than 50 million views in the second half of 2024. Season 4 started airing in March 2025. It follows JJ and his friends, Cody, CeCe, Nina, Bella, and Nico, as they face some major childhood challenges, including how to handle big emotions.
As kids and family content makes up 15% of Netflix's total viewing, there's plenty of children's content to keep your little one entertained. That includes some new shows, such as Peppa Pig, which just dropped season 7 on the streaming platform, as well as a new mobile game called World of Peppa Pig.
Old and new episodes of Sesame Street will also land on Netflix later this year, in a deal that gives it the ability to create video games for both Sesame Street and Sesame Street Mecha Builders. And we can't forget about Ms. Rachel and Blippi , meaning you still have options no matter what streaming service you have!
