CLOWN IN A CORNFIELD: Cast & Director Interview | Wondercon 2025

Published 2 weeks ago2 minute read

Clown in a Cornfield is an upcoming horror film directed by Eli Craig, known for Tucker & Dale vs. Evil. The movie is based on Adam Cesare’s 2020 young adult slasher novel of the same name.

At Wondercon, I had the opportunity to sit down with several members of the Clown in a Cornfield cast, along with director Eli Craig, for a wide-ranging conversation about their experiences making the film. We delved into everything from personal fears, practical FX, as well as how they approached the film’s blend of horror and dark humor. As a fun aside, I even shared how I’ve been fan-casting Katie Douglas as Violet in the upcoming adaptation of Fourth Wing!

The story follows Quinn (Katie Douglas) and her father (Aaron Abrams) as they relocate to the small town of Kettle Springs for a fresh start. The town is struggling after the local Baypen Corn Syrup Factory burned down, leading to a divided community. Amidst the turmoil, a sinister figure named Frendo the Clown emerges from the cornfields, targeting teenagers in a series of gruesome killings.

Alongside Katie Douglas, the film stars Hannibal’s Aaron Abrams, MadTV’s Will Sasso, Kevin Durance, and Carson MacCormac! Clown in a Cornfield is set to be released in U.S. theaters on May 9, 2025, by RLJE Films and Shudder. Check it out!
