Youth from all 47 counties are expected to benefit from the new initiative.

The National Steering Committee, led by Housing PS Charles Hinga and Internal Security PS Raymond Omollo, unveiled a registration portal for all youths across the country.

PS Hinga said the Climate Worx programme registration will be open for 10 days to pave the way for the recruitment exercise.

Hinga revealed that every youth recruited to the initiative will receive KSh 500 while those working as supervisors will get KSh 550 per day.

"We have created a portal that I'm going to give to you. It is www.crsp.go.ke. This is the only authentic portal where we want the young people to register. The portal will be open for 10 days for that particular registration process, after which we will then embark on recruitment.
The programme remuneration will be sort of a daily wage of 500 shillings per person. There will also be supervisors who are going to come from the NYS largely. The supervisors will be paid 550 shillings a day. All payments will be made via mobile money," said Hinga.

Omollo said the committee is racing to implement President William Ruto's directives during Madaraka Day celebrations.

Omollo revealed that the nationwide recruitment targets 113,000 youth, each drawn from a one household.

"In terms of recruitment and terms of eligibility, we are looking at particularly the youth with a 50-50 balance between the two genders, that is, a male and a female.
"The youth will be selected based on one individual per household, and we will be relying on our national government administration officers to help us actualize that," said Omollo.

The PS said the committee will work closely with the county governments across the country to make the interventions, which primarily target the road sector, make a difference.

Omollo noted that the programme will give youth an opportunity to work for 10 days and rest for another 10 days, after acquiring skills.

"Most notably is that this also acts as a pivot point for our youths, so that within the period that they are taking a break, because you work for 10 days, you take a break for 10 days, it's an opportunity to acquire some skill, which then would allow you to do the next available job opportunity that we continue to push as an administration," he said.

Ruto's administration rolled out Climate Worx in Nairobi County, employing youth to clean the Nairobi River in September 2024.

The head of state said the programme would employ more than 200,000 youths.

Payment for youth working in the programme was estimated at KSh 149 million per week.
