has confirmed the director and cast for the upcoming project.

Dutch filmmaker Niels Bourgonje, best known for his award-winning horror short Swipe, has been named as director for the sequel. Swipe is also being developed into a feature, but there is no confirmation that Bourgonje is at the helm of this project as well. He replaces filmmaking duo Aaron Hann and Mario Miscione, who directed and wrote the original.

The ensemble cast, according to Hollywood Reporter, includes Carmen Flood (Long Slow Exhale), Michael Nardelli (American Crime Story), Cameron Mann (Eddington), Luca Padovan (You), Maia Jae (Gen V), Corrado Martini (Collapser), Isaiah Dodo-Williams (Public Defenders), Laila Drew (Broadway’s Suffs), Scout Tayui-Lepore (The Studio), Sophia Tayui-Lepore (The Studio), and Mareau Hall (Babygirl).

The first film, a low-budget production inspired by 12 Angry Men, centered around a room of fifty people, all strangers, “trapped in a room and forced to decide who would be the one survivor through a series of votes and debates about the worth of each human life.” The sequel will take place eighteen years later, with the remaining survivors of the original film facing “a new threat.” Nardelli and Brent Stiefel will return to produce alongside executive producers ’Tim Nardelli, Jeffrey Leaf, and Justin Lothrop. I See You’s Devon Gray has written the script.

Bourgonje spoke about the announcement, saying, “Ten years ago, the original Circle encapsulated a growing sense of mistrust in society—a divide that has only grown stronger since. Circles will capture our current fears and translate them into a thrilling ride that will keep viewers on the edge of their seats. I am thrilled and grateful for the opportunity to bring this next chapter to life for a new generation of Circle viewers.”
