Grammy Award-winning singer Chris Brown has been charged in the United Kingdom in connection with an alleged assault on a music producer at a London nightclub in 2023, British prosecutors confirmed Thursday.Brown, was arrested by officers from London’s Metropolitan Police at a hotel in Manchester after reports emerged that he had returned to the UK, arriving in Manchester by private jet on Wednesday afternoon. He is slated to perform multiple shows across the UK next month. Brown was charged with 'grievous bodily harm' after being accused of attacking producer Abe Diaw during an incident at Tape, an exclusive nightclub in London’s upscale Mayfair district, in February 2023. At the time, Brown was on tour in the UK.
According to The Sun, which first broke the story, Diaw claimed he was hospitalised following what he described as an 'unprovoked attack' by the singer. The tabloid said it contacted police upon learning of Brown’s presence in the country, prompting authorities to make the arrest.Brown is being held in custody and is scheduled to appear before Manchester Magistrates’ Court on Friday morning.The singer, rose to fame as a teenager with the release of his debut single “Run It!” in 2005 and went on to become one of the most prominent figures in R&B and pop music, known for hits such as “Kiss Kiss,” “Forever,” and “No Air.” However, his career has also been marred by legal controversies, most notably his 2009 felony conviction for assaulting then-girlfriend Rihanna.
