On Wednesday, March 26, he was appointed as the Assistant Director of Protocol and Events in the Executive Office of the President.

The announcement was made by Dennis Itumbi, Head of Presidential Special Projects and Creative Economy, who extended his congratulations via social media.

In his message, Itumbi expressed optimism for Chipukeezy's new role and shared a Bible verse, Habakkuk 2:3, as a source of encouragement.

"Congratulations, Chipukeezy, on your appointment as Assistant Director, Protocol and Events in the Executive Office of the President! May you serve with unwavering focus and passion as we work together to drive the success of The Creative Economy," Itumbi tweeted.

Chipukeezy's close ties with the government and his support for President William Ruto have been evident over the years.

In 2018, he was appointed as a director at the National Authority for the Campaign Against Drug Abuse (NACADA) by former President Uhuru Kenyatta.

He later rose to the position of Vice Chairperson in 2021, cementing his influence in public service.

In his new role, Chipukeezy will oversee the organisation of official ceremonies, state functions, and diplomatic protocols.

His background in the entertainment industry and public relations is expected to bring a dynamic approach to managing government events.

The appointment has sparked mixed reactions online, with fans and critics alike sharing their views on his transition from entertainment to a more formal government role.

Previously, the comedian called out Kenyans criticising artists who accept government gigs.

His remarks came amid backlash after the music duo Wadaglizs performed at the Mashujaa Day celebrations on Sunday, October 20.

In a video shared on X, the comedian, who has maintained close ties with the government, firmly stated that he wouldn't turn down a government opportunity just to please anti-government fans.

He urged critics to respect differing opinions, emphasising that protesting won't necessarily improve one's circumstances.

Chipukeezy also reminded his followers that regardless of political views, the government remains a singular entity.
