JUBA, May 14 -- Recently, the 11th Chinese Peacekeeping Infantry Battalion to the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS), together with the Chinese medical team in Africa, went to the Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camp in the mission area to provide free medical services to the local people.
Free medical services in internal medicine, surgery, pediatrics, dermatology, and other departments were provided during the event. The medical personnel also introduced prevention and control knowledge on high-incidence infectious diseases such as malaria, cholera, and monkey pox to the local people, and provided malaria diagnostic tests for the children in the IDP camp. In total, they treated more than 200 patients, screened more than 100 cases of diseases, and delivered 2,133 items of 56 types of medical supplies.
Since its deployment to the mission area, while undertaking tasks including security guard, security patrol, and armed escort, the Chinese peacekeeping infantry battalion has actively conducted humanitarian assistance, joint medical outreach, cultural exchange, and other work, contributing to maintaining regional peace and deepening friendship between China and Africa.
