Chief Executive Officer - Services and Housing In the Province (SHIP) | Jobs.Longwoods.com

Published 1 day ago3 minute read

Services and Housing In the Province (SHIP) is a respected leader in supportive housing and mental health services, known for its values-driven approach and strong community partnerships. What began in the 1980s as a grassroots effort to support individuals living with mental illness has grown into a multifaceted organization that provides safe, inclusive housing and integrated care across Ontario. Today, SHIP is poised for thoughtful renewal and continued impact. As the organization looks to its future, the Board of Directors is seeking a compassionate and strategic Chief Executive Officer to lead SHIP through its next phase of growth. The incoming leader will join a deeply committed team and a strong, values-based culture grounded in empathy, inclusion, and client-centered care. This is a unique opportunity to guide an organization that is not only expanding its reach but is also shaping the future of supportive housing and mental health services across the province.

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) will provide strategic and values-based leadership to a complex, mission-driven organization operating at the intersection of housing, healthcare, and community services. As SHIP advances its 10-Year Growth Strategy and deepens its role in Ontario’s supportive housing and mental health sectors, the CEO will guide a committed team through a period of renewal, growth, and cultural continuity. The CEO will be accountable for the successful delivery of SHIP’s strategic priorities, including the implementation of major development initiatives, the modernization of internal systems, and the continued evolution of SHIP’s inclusive and client-centered service model. They will lead with integrity and purpose, fostering collaboration, strengthening operational excellence, and ensuring that the organization remains both responsive to community needs and resilient in the face of change.

Internally, the CEO will work closely with SHIP’s senior leadership to align people, structure, and strategy, empowering teams, reinforcing a unified culture, and investing in staff well-being and leadership development. Externally, the CEO will serve as SHIP’s chief representative and advocate, cultivating strong relationships with government funders, housing and health partners, and community stakeholders. They will play a visible role in shaping sector conversations, advancing SHIP’s profile, and securing the resources and alliances needed to support its long-term success. This is a rare opportunity to lead an organization with a strong moral compass, a committed workforce, and a mandate that is transformational.
