Chery has revealed the pricing and specification of its new C5 range.

C5? Isn’t that a Citroen? Well, yes it is, but Citroen is not selling its cars here anymore.

So Chery has appropriated the name for its Omoda 5 which will henceforth be called the Chery C5.

The Omoda 5 introduced in March, 2023, marked Chery’s return to the market after a seven-year absence. 

The main driver for the name change is not Citroen’s departure from the market, but rather Chery is preparing to introduce Omoda as a separate brand in Australia.

Confusing, but that’s car companies for you. 

A facelifted Omoda 5 was unveiled in March.

The Omoda 5/C5 has proved popular since its introduction, with close to 13,000 units sold since 2023.

The model line-up has been simplified to two variants, which includes the entry-level Urban and top-of-the-range Ultimate.

The updated Omoda 5/C5 features the next iteration of Chery’s signature diamond-shaped grille, while the Ultimate variant scores freshly designed 18-inch alloy wheels.

Practicality has also been improved with luggage capacity now increased to 370L (VDA), providing ample space for cargo.

There have been further changes under the skin to enhance the driving experience, which includes multi-link rear suspension and a new six-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

Along with this update, the electric Omoda E5’ will be renamed to ‘E5’ and follow the same variant convention.

“We are committed to offering a class-leading driving experience and unbeatable value for money with all our vehicles and the MY25 C5 is a testament to this.”

Prices start from $29,990 driveway for the Urban and $34,990 driveaway for the better-equipped Ultimate.
