Charlize Theron on Uma Thurman's Oscar Worthiness for Kill Bill

Actress Charlize Theron expressed her admiration for her 'The Old Guard 2' co-star, Uma Thurman, stating that Thurman deserved an Academy Award for her performance in Quentin Tarantino's 'Kill Bill' Vol. 1 and Vol. 2. Theron shared these sentiments during an appearance on 'Jimmy Kimmel Live!' as part of the press tour for the upcoming Netflix action sequel, 'The Old Guard 2'.

Theron described Thurman as a "sensei" in the action world, emphasizing her influence and impact on Theron's own journey into action films. Theron acknowledged Thurman's iconic role as The Bride in 'Kill Bill Vol. 1' and 'Kill Bill Vol. 2'.

During the interview, Kimmel questioned whether Thurman should have won an Academy Award for 'Kill Bill,' to which Theron emphatically agreed. She noted that men often receive more recognition for similar roles, while Thurman's performance in 'Kill Bill' was exceptional.

Reflecting on her experience working with Thurman in 'The Old Guard 2', Theron admitted feeling intimidated during their action scenes together, lauding Thurman as a "bad**." Theron revealed that she had long aspired to collaborate with Thurman on an action sequence.

The original 'Old Guard,' which premiered in the summer of 2020, garnered significant viewership, reaching 72 million households within its first four weeks on Netflix. Theron reprises her role in the sequel, joined by original cast members Kiandra "KiKi" Layne, Matthias Schoenaerts, Marwan Kenzari, and Chiwetel Ejiofor. Uma Thurman and Henry Golding are new additions to the cast. 'The Old Guard 2', directed by Victoria Mahoney, is scheduled to be released on Netflix on July 2.
