As tributes pour in, TUKO.co.ke compiled images of the legislator.

The MP was tragically shot dead on Wednesday, April 30, near the City Mortuary roundabout in Nairobi.

Eyewitnesses reported that two assailants on a motorcycle approached his vehicle, and one opened fire at close range, fatally injuring him.

The motive behind the attack remains unclear as investigations continue.

According to the politician’s website, he recognised the importance of accessible healthcare and worked towards improving health services in Kasipul.

He emphasised preventive healthcare and collaborated with various partners to sensitise the youth on the dangers of drug abuse and HIV/AIDS.

He also advocated for the establishment of more health facilities to serve the growing population.

In July 2020, Ong’ondo was arrested for flouting COVID-19 guidelines.

He was arrested for holding a public gathering in Oyugis town, where he was distributing sanitisers to locals without adhering to social distancing rules.

The court freed him after paying a KSh 15,000 fine.

Ong’ondo asserted his political influence by stating he was "the shot-caller in Homa Bay county, second only to Governor Gladys Wanga.

He emphasised his authority in Kasipul and warned other politicians against giving directions to residents without his permission.

Two months before his death, Ong'ondo voiced concerns about threats to his life.

He described a chaotic scene in East Kamagak’s Nyatindo area, where a funeral was violently disrupted by suspected hired groups.

Days later, after attending another burial in God Nyango, he encountered a blocked road, heightening his fears.

A resurfaced video showed the late Ong’ondo recounting how two sources tipped him off about plans to eliminate him.

In the clip, he mentioned five suspected individuals, including a former Nairobi MCA and two locals from his area.

He claimed the plot was overheard by a woman he once supported financially, who was coincidentally at the same hotel.

The legislator was ambushed while heading home from parliament, when two assailants on a motorbike intercepted his vehicle and one opened fire at close range.

Photos of the white Toyota Crown he was in showed extensive damage, highlighting the intensity of the shooting.

Reports indicated that at least six bullets were fired, primarily aimed at him, while his driver and bodyguard emerged unscathed, pointing to a targeted attack.

Ong'ondo's final social media post, shared a day before his death, featured a video from an event in his constituency.

In the clip, he was seen leading a crowd dressed in ODM attire during a funeral gathering.

The group chanted the party's name enthusiastically, showcasing strong political unity and support.
