to the sword as they scored five unanswered goals in this season's final held at the Munich Arena in Germany.

It was expected that this would be one of the most closely-contested finals in history, given how both teams got here. However, PSG blew Inter Milan off the water from the word go, as they recorded the biggest win ever in a Champions League final.

Prodigy Desire Doue produced a man-of-the-match performance, scoring twice with further goals from Achraf Hakimi, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and substitute Senny Mayulu completing the rout.

After the game, Mbappe took to his Instagram stories and congratulated his former club.

"The big day has finally arrived. Victory, and in club style. Congratulations, PSG."

Mbappe quit the French club last season and moved to Real Madrid on a free transfer to compete for major honours.

PSG then went on and won their first-ever Champions League title and treble a year after their star player had left.

It has been a case of wrong timing for the Les Bleus captain, who snubbed a move to Madrid in 2022, and they won the Champions League. And in the same season he finally decided to join his dream club, PSG won the title to prolong his wait for the Champions League.

The 26-year-old had a good season in front of goal in his debut season in Spain, scoring 42 goals and providing four assists.

He won the UEFA Super Cup in his first competitive game for Madrid, but afterwards, the season went downhill in terms of silverware. They were beaten by their rivals, Barcelona, to the La Liga and Copa del Rey trophies before Arsenal annihilated them in the Champions League quarter-finals.

PSG head coach Luis Enrique aimed a dig at his former striker, crediting how his current players selflessly played for the team.

"We would have loved to have him, but his decision was different. We've shown that we have stars at the service of the team, and not the other way around," as quoted by the Mirror.
"Since day one, I said I wanted to win important trophies, and Paris had never won the Champions League. We did it for the first time. It's a great feeling to make many people happy."
