The show earlier got into controversy after Farah Khan said that Holi is the favourite festival of ‘chhapri boys’ but her statement was made in the humourous way. In one of the episode of Celebrity MasterChef, Farah said, “Chhapri logo ka favourite festival hota hai Holi.” This happened when Gaurav Khanna and Chef Vikas Khanna were having a discussion and Farah looked towards the camera to say this. Some netizens called out Farah Khan for her remark, whereas, some people supported her.
According to reports, social media personality Vikash Fhatak, also known as Hindustani Bhau, later accused Farah of making a derogatory remark that could hurt religious sentiments.
An FIR was reportedly lodged against her at Khar Police Station in Mumbai. ABP News quoted Hindustani Bhau’s lawyer, Ali Kaashif Khan Deshmukh, as saying, “My client states that Farah Khan’s comment has insulted the religious sentiments of Hindus. Referring to a sacred festival as ‘Chhapris’ is highly inappropriate and could lead to communal tension.”
The complaint states that Farah Khan’s remark was offensive and disrespectful towards the Hindu festival of Holi. It urges the authorities to take action under several sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), including 196, 299, 302, and 353.
Meanwhile, talking about the show, Chefs Vikas Khanna and Ranveer Brar are the judges with Farah Khan serving as the host. The show airs on Sony TV channel from Monday to Friday at 8 PM.
