The past week has had mixed fortunes for Kenya's celebrities, with death knocking on the door of a prominent journalist. On the flipside, another journalist welcomed a child.

Mary Kilobi, a journalist married to COTU boss Francis Atwoli, welcomed his child.
The TV anchor announced that the child was named Samuel, meaning God had answered her prayer.
Gospel singer Annastacia Mukabwa shared the first photo of Kilobi while pregnant.
The scribe donned a white dress and clutched her tummy while posing for a photo at their Kajiado home.
Annastacia said those who looked down on Kilobi would now greet her respectfully.
Kilobi waited seven years for the child.
Dagoretti North legislator Beatrice Elachi lost her son, Elvis Murakana. He was hospitalised for a while after being involved in a road accident and succumbed to his injuries.
During his memorial service, Elachi said that Elvis was at home when one of his friends called asking for his help.
While driving back, he suffered a tire burst, and the vehicle rolled when he hit the brakes.
Elvis was a Business Studies student at Africa Nazarene University and was set to graduate in June 2025.
The young man is set to be buried on Saturday, April 29, at the family’s home in Nalepo village, Kajiado county.
Nick Mudimba, a celebrated and experienced journalist, died on Sunday, March 23.
Mudimba was watching football with his friends when he had a medical emergency at his Syokimau home.
He worked for CGTN Africa and was previously employed by KTN.
Known for his jovial nature, Mudimba had recently returned to Kenya from Ethiopia, where he covered the African Union Commission elections.
Mudimba will be buried on Saturday, April 5.
Pesh Lema, a Kenyan woman arrested in Ghana for smuggling drugs, lost her mother.
The former socialite was apprehended in 2015 while transporting a suitcase her Nigerian lover had given her.
Known for living large, Pesh was jailed for 10 years but was released in 2023.
Pesh said she wished her mother would live longer.
Anselm Madubuko, the husband of Kenyan gospel singer Emmy Kosgei, shared his salvation journey.
The preacher said he became a Freemason and rose through the ranks while in university.

However, Madubuko said he changed his path when he left college and met a young man who preached to him about God.
In other news, Elachi said that her son was always healthy.
The MP said that Elvis was never admitted to the hospital until the fateful accident.
His first hospitalisation was sadly his last.
