Ghana’s local currency, the cedi, continues to appreciate against major trading currencies, particularly the US dollar, at some forex bureaus and banks.

According to the Bank of Ghana’s daily update, as of Thursday, March 27, 2025, the cedi is buying at GH¢15.52 per dollar and selling at GH¢15.53.

Meanwhile, the British pound is buying at GH¢20.02 and selling at GH¢20.04.

On Wednesday, March 26, 2025, the central bank’s rate showed the cedi buying at GH¢15.51 and selling at GH¢15.52 per dollar, indicating a slight appreciation.

The cedi’s performance remains a key topic of discussion at the ongoing 123rd Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) meeting of the Bank of Ghana, which began on Monday, March 23, 2025.

Additionally, officials from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) are set to visit Ghana to commence the fourth review of the US$3 billion Economic Credit Facility Program.

The cedi is expected to remain stable this week, supported by the IMF’s visit.
