Brooklyn Beckham teases new role on Jaguar’s Formula E team
Ahead of his debut in a new field next week, Brooklyn Beckham has made reference to his varied career.
It was announced last month that Brooklyn, 25, would be venturing into sport with a new project. He will take part in Evo Sessions next week, which has been set up by Formula E – a motorsport championship for electric racing cars. Brooklyn – the eldest child of David Beckham and Victoria Beckham – is among 11 “personalities” who are being given the opportunity to get behind the wheel of single-seater vehicles within the sport. It was previously revealed that they would each be coached by a different racing driver ahead of a two-day track event in the US. The line-up also includes Harry Potter star Tom Felton, retired footballer Sergio Agüero and content creator Emelia Hartford.
He’s set to drive a Jaguar I-TYPE 7 at the event, which will run from March 5 to 6, in Miami. Ahead of him taking to the track at the Miami International Autodrome circuit for the occasion, Jaguar TCS Racing – which he will represent – has shared a video of Brooklyn during preparations for the race.
The video, which was uploaded to TikTok on Thursday, shows him working with the team, including trying out a simulator. He says at the start of the footage: “I am Brooklyn and I’m training for my Formula E race. Y’know I’ve always been into racing. Me and my dad talked about [it] all the time.”
He goes on to reference his varied career, having ventured into the culinary arts in recent years after working as a model and releasing a photography book. Brooklyn teased: “I’ve tried out a few things, like the business aspect of cooking and fell in love with it.” He then continued: “[I’ve] just released my first condiment line called Cloud23.”
Discussing his new opportunity in motorsport, he said: “It’s going to be interesting to kind of experience what these guys go through. The simulator was unreal. Felt a little bit sick going in. I’ve had a blast so far, the first day.”
Brooklyn added in the video: “So I’m just excited to y’know be a sponge. Just to learn as much as I can, and obviously work with a great brand like Jaguar and like Formula E. I love Miama. I’m there quite a lot. So excited to get started.”
Last month, when it was announced that he would be involved in Formula E’s Evo Sessions, Brooklyn said in a statement that he “jumped at the chance” to take part. He said: “I love it as a sport, but it’s an incredible opportunity to actually get behind the wheel and experience what it takes to compete at the top level of motorsport. The performance of the cars is insane, so I’m pleased I’ll be learning from the best in how to get the most out of them.”
