Brian graduated from our program for orphaned and vulnerable children in Zambia and now works with our team as a Maintenance Department Intern. He shares his powerful story of transformation below—
I spent my early years living with my grandmother, but when my grandmother passed away, I had to move back in with my mother. During that time, my stepfather was abusive, and my mother numbed the pain with alcohol.
I was left alone to fend for myself for days at a time. To survive, I began selling alcohol to earn money for food. I had no choice but to focus on survival.
In 2013, my mother’s younger sister took me in. I began attending school, but to progress to 8th grade, I would need to pay school fees. I stayed home for two months, unable to afford to pay for school.
And in 2018, I accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior. Since then, I’ve continued to grow spiritually and have developed a deep desire to know God more and live according to His Word.
In 2022, I was invited to study at Lifesong Zambia. I received love and care, and for the first time, all of my basic needs were met. I no longer thought of going back to selling alcohol to survive. I received parental love and care from staff members.

After completing secondary education,

I’ve gained invaluable skills and a heart for service and stewardship. I’ve learned to interact effectively with people from all walks of life, and by working alongside experienced mentors, I am confidently transitioning into adulthood. Looking ahead, I hope to pursue a bachelor’s degree in Biological Science.
