According to Kerich Joseah, Silvia passed away recently after struggling with a condition that left her unable to walk.

For years, Silvia was carried everywhere by her family members, as a wheelchair was always a distant dream they couldn’t afford.

Images from her funeral have drawn widespread sympathy and calls for urgent support for her struggling family.

Photos showed the event held under a makeshift tent and amid flooded ground, in a humble, improvised coffin.

Heartbreaking scenes from her burial captured wooden planks nailed together to form a casket, and a basic tent barely shielding it.

To add salt to injury, it rained on the day of her burial, forcing mourners to wade through mud and leaving her grave flooded.

The photos prompted an outpouring of grief from Kenyans online, with many reflecting on the harsh realities of poverty.

Ole Sanningo WTC:

“May she rest in peace, and if it's possible, let's organise a big fundraising to support the family members because the situation shown in the photo is enough for us to support them.”

Mildred Metto:

“A painful story, even in death, even the grave is flooded. I pray one day no human should have to suffer coz of lack. If the family was able, maybe she could have gotten specialised treatment and lived longer.”

Evans Soi:

“Even in death, she displayed suffering, unfortunately. I hope someone somewhere can be touched and look for this family to change their story. May her soul rest in peace.”

Anjie Benards:

“Oh my God, poverty is an enemy. As she rests in peace, may God see them through. Look at the casket and the tent.”

Silvia’s story, though filled with struggle, has become a powerful call for compassion. Many are now urging well-wishers to come forward and help uplift the family left behind.

Her tragic story highlights not only individual suffering but also a profound systemic failure in the rights and inclusion of persons with disabilities.

May her soul rest in peace.

Her single father, Shadrack Parusei, is now left with two young daughters, a broken heart, and no steady job.

His only wish is to own a heifer to provide milk for the girls and a motorbike to earn a stable income with.

Well-wishers seeking to support the grieving family can contact the treasurer, Peter Langat, at 0724637859.
